Frank Calabrese’s Dreaming of Anna, Rahy out of Mt. Brilliant broodmare Justenuffheart, who was given a brief freshener following her 1 1/2-length tally in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs Nov. 4, recorded her third work of the winter over the turf course at the Palm Meadows Training Center Monday morning--breezing a half mile in :47 3/5- -and according to her trainer Wayne Catalano, she is likely to make her next start on the turf. With the ultimate goal slated to be the GI Kentucky Oaks May 4, the chestnut will begin her trek to the Classic with a start on the turf in Gulfstream’s Gaily Gaily S. Feb. 25. “The turf is kinder to a horse and she really likes the turf,” explained Catalano. “We’d like to get two races in her before going to the [GI] Ashland S. [over Keeneland’s Polytrack Apr. 7]. I know the Oaks is on the dirt, but we want to stay on the grass because it’s so much easier on her.” According to Catalano, Dreaming of Anna’s works will be spaced roughly 10 days apart, taking advantage of the Palm Meadows three day-per-week turf schedule.
